CONSTITUTION OF THE ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING TECHOLOGY ASSOCIATION

 

ARTICLE I

Name

1.   The official name of this organization shall be: Electronic Engineering Technology Association

2.   This is a non-profit organization, organized in the State of Ohio.

 

ARTICLE II

Purpose

1.   To advance the members' level of knowledge of Electronics. This would include designing, theory, manufacture, and applications of electronics in various technologies.

2.   To make the employment market in Electronics more accessible to the members by communication. Communication is important to offer field related jobs to the students. Part-time or Full-time jobs can further reinforce material covered in class, which aids in understanding while giving hands-on experience.

3.   To provide voluntary services to the Engineering and Science division of the Summit College at The University of Akron to promote fellowship and enrichment among all students.

 

ARTICLE III

Membership

1.   Those eligible for membership are any person enrolled as a student at The University of Akron who maintains at least a 2.0 GPA. A student may join the organization anytime during the school year as long as dues are paid.

2.   Membership will consist of the voting type.

3.   Membership will be revoked by the organization under the following conditions:

a.   Failure to pay dues

b.   Failure to remain in good standings with The University of Akron

c.   Failure to abide by the constitution's purpose as stated in this constitution

4.   Should vacancies occur before the completion of the term of office, current Officers should divide the vacant Officers duties among themselves.

5.   Impeachment charges can be brought against any officer if the officer fails to comply will their duties listed in the constitution.

a.   Impeachment proceedings may be enacted upon a majority vote of active members.

b.   If impeachment proceedings are voted to occur, the following procedure will be followed:

I.         The officer in question will be notified of the charges in writing.

II.        A special meeting is set up to discuss the charges where all parties are allowed to respond.

III.      If a decision is made to proceed, a vote should be taken by the membership, requiring a majority vote of 50%+1 members for the officer to be impeached.

 

ARTICLE IV

Officers

1.   Officer positions in this organization include:

a.   President

b.   Vice President

c.   Secretary

d.   Treasurer

2.   The powers and duties of the officer shall be:

a.   President-   The President shall preside at all meetings and act as a representative for the organization when reporting to faculty or University officials. The President shall also act as the head of the Officers.

b.   Vice President- The Vice President shall assist the President when necessary. The Vice president shall become President if the current President is unable to serve, or resigns. The Vice President shall also perform the duties of the President in the event of the President's absence.

c.   Secretary- The Secretary shall act as the recorder of all organization business. This includes keeping a complete record of the membership of the organization. The Secretary shall also be responsible for typing, duplicating, and mailing of reports or special announcements that may be required.

d.   Treasurer- The Treasurer shall be the Financial Officer of the organization. The Treasurer is responsible for a complete record (including receipts) of all monies received and disbursed by or on behalf of the organization. The Treasurer shall report to the Officers and deposit all monies according to the instructions of the Officers.

3.   The Election of officers.

a.   To qualify to be an officer, a student must be a member of the organization for at least one (1) year.

b.  Nomination of officers will be taken by ballot, or from the floor,

c.   The prescribed election/selection process to be used will be a single ballot listing positions and nominees,

d.   The candidate(s) receiving a majority vote will be declared the winner and will take office in the beginning of the Fall Semester,

e.   The terms of office shall be from the beginning of the Fall Semester until the beginning of the following Fall Semester,

f   Voting for officers shall take place in the middle of the Spring Semester.

 

ARTICLE V

Organizational Structure

1.   The Executive Committee shall consist of the following persons:

a.   President

b.   Vice President

c.   Secretary

d.   Treasurer

2.   The Executive Committee's duties shall be established as needed.

3.   Other committees of the organization may be added as needed.

 

ARTICLE VI

Faculty Advisor

1.   In order to qualify to be the Faculty Advisor, the individual must be a full time faculty or staff member at The University of Akron.

2.   The Faculty Advisor will be selected by the organization officers

3.   The term of office for the Faculty Advisor will be from the beginning of the Fall Semester until the beginning of the following Fall Semester.

 

ARTICLE VII

Rules or Organizational Procedures

1.   Attendance is at the member's own discretion.

2.   Organizational meetings will be held once (1) a month during the school year.

3.   In order to conduct business, a quorum will consist of 30% of the members.

 

ARTICLE VIII

Finance

1.   Dues for membership to this organization shall be determined annually by a vote held during the first Fall Semester meeting.

2.   The Electronic Engineering Technology Association shall manage its own finances, but in accordance with the rules and regulations prescribed by The University of Akron.

 

ARTICLE IX

Amendments

1.   All amendments to this constitution must be made by the following process:

a.   Any proposed amendment must be presented in writing to the membership.

b.   Discussion should occur at a meeting consisting of 50%+1 of the active members.

c.   A vote for acceptance should occur at a following meeting... allowing people time to think about the changes.

d.   The amendment shall become part of this constitution upon a majority vote of the members.

 

ARTICLE X

Nondiscrimination Clause

1.   The Electronic Engineering Technology Association shall not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, national origin, ancestry, gender, age, handicap, veteran status, or sexual orientation in the selection of its members or in its programs unless federal or state laws allow for such exceptions.

 

ARTICLE XI

Student Development Clause

1.   The Electronic Engineering Technology Association shall maintain a current registration form including a list of officers, their addresses, the name of the Faculty Advisor, and the most recently amended constitution with the Office of Student Development.
