Transportation
to and from the airports |
Shuttles,
cabs and rental cars are available at both Cleveland
Hopkins Airport (click on "ground transportation")
and Akron-Canton
Airport (click on "travel"). Several
shuttles have regularly scheduled trips to and from both airports
and the two downtown hotels (see below). Cleveland
Hopkins airport is ~50 mins from downtown Akron whereas the
Akron-Canton airport is ~20 mins away. |

Driving
directions |
The
Department of Chemistry of the University of Akron is located
in the Knight Chemical Laboratories (KNCL) at 190 E Buchtel
Commons (map
and driving
directions) in downtown Akron,
Ohio. Akron is
situated at the intersection of Interstate highways I-77 and
I-76 and is within 25 miles of I-80, I-90, I-270 and I-480.

Hotels
|
There
are two hotels within walking distance
of the campus. |
The
Quaker
Square Inn is located at 135 South Broadway in
downtown Akron and is owned by the University of Akron. It is
a short walk from Knight Chemical Laboratories. A shuttle
bus runs between the inn and various points on
the campus. The hotel was once a mill and grainery of the Quaker
Oats Company and is listed in the National Register of Historical
Places.

The
Radisson Hotel Akron City Centre
is located at 20 West Mill St in downtown Akron. Rooms
in the upper floors offer beautiful views of the city. This
hotel is a short walk from the Quaker Square Inn, which is served
by a shuttle
to various points on the campus.
