As a faculty member I have taught the following courses:
Graduate: Labor and Employment Law (two-semester sequence), Framework of Economic Analysis, Women in the Labor Market, Labor and Government, Foundations of Economics
Undergraduate: Labor Problems, Labor Economics, Labor and Government, Comparative Economic Systems, Urban Economics, Microeconomic Theory, Women in the Labor Market, as well as both one and two term principle courses.
Administrative:
As Acting Assistant Dean, I am part of the
college’s leadership team with lead responsibilities for the measurement and
analysis of departmental effectiveness, analytical support for the fiscal
operations ($40 million budget), and liaison to Institutional Research.
Co-leadership responsibilities include student outcomes assessment, coordination
between the Dean’s office and the college faculty curriculum body, and to
represent the college’s interests on numerous university-wide committees, work
groups, and at other venues.
As Associate Director for Assessment in Institutional
Planning, and previously as Associate Director in the Institute for Policy
Studies, I supervised an office of 4 1/2 FTE and all of the reporting and
analysis of institutional data. My committee duties included serving on
Institute for teaching and Learning Advisory Council, the Student Assessment
Task Force (SATF), President’s Faculty Salary Equity taskforce, the Steering
Committee for the conversion to the PeopleSoft Human Resource system and the
Student Administration system, member of the OBR HEI statewide consultants
committees for enrollment, faculty/staff data areas, and the Student Information
System Implementation committee. At the request of the provost, I regularly
attended and provided information to the Council of Assistant and Associate
Deans.
I also coordinated UA’s participation in and analysis of the
National Survey of Instructional Cost and Productivity (NSICP, aka The Delaware
Study), the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), the Faculty Survey of
Student Engagement (FSSE), the College Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP)and
numerous campus initiatives including design, implementation and analysis of our
writing across the curriculum efforts.
I have participated in the development of a student
information data warehouse, the evaluation of the software to access it, and
coordinate a support group for its use.
My role as the principal investigator on U.S. Department of Labor grant #91-09-76-0 (Census data), co-investigator on U.S. Department of Labor grant #21-39-81-05 (1979 National Longitudinal Survey of Youth) and Associate Director of Institutional Research (NSICP, NSSE, FSSE, and proprietary institutional data) provided extensive experience handling large datasets.
I was an early adapter and continue to be a proponent of the appropriate use of technology to enhance student learning and performance.
