Who am I:

          I am Marcus Vincent Phelps, a Sophomore honors student at The University of Akron.  Here at The University of Akron I have received numerous opportunities that have encouraged me do become successful.  I have traveled throughout the nation to several different states with the speech and debate team.  I have introduced a civil rights pioneer to a crowd of people when they lectured at the University.  Also, I was appointed by Governor Ted Strickland as Student Trustee to the Board of Trustees officially on October 8, 2008.  So far I am pleased with my experience here at The University of Akron.  I just hope that my future brings even more opportunities so that I can achieve all of my goals.    

My Educational Objectives:

            My goal as of now is to join the best of the best after I graduate from The University of Akron.  During my senior year I may choose to apply for a Fulbright Scholarship and research in another country.  I am also planning to attend law school.  Schools that I am looking to attend are: University of Chicago, Stanford University, Columbia University and Yale.  I know that accomplishing this will take much determination and tenacity though.  So far I have been a Dean's List student every semester.  My goal is to graduate as a Magna Cum Laude with a 3.8 Grade Point Average or higher.  Besides Economics, I am also pursuing a minor in Spanish.  My educational goals will increase my skills to be a leader.

My Career Objectives:

           As I have said before I will attend law school after I graduate and possibly perform research in another country.  Following law school and research, there are multiple careers that I can strive towards.  The careers that I am currently considering are a variety of government positions.  Working for the government will allow me to reach my primary career objective as a leader.  For many years I have aspired to become a well respected, enthusiastic and diplomatic leader.  I have even spoken with people before of becoming the President of The United States of America.  Becoming the President is very far fetched, but as Robert F. Kennedy once said, "Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly."
