Process

Process
The following is an outline of what you will do step by step. Some art class time will be spent doing research, but much of your work will be done in your classroom with your regular teacher. This art activity lasts about six weeks.

Step 1:
  • You will be put into groups of three chosen by the art teacher and classroom teacher.
  • You must review primary, secondary, and complementary colors using the artroom flashcards.
  • Each group member must take the color quiz and pass with 100% before you get your job assignments.

Step 2:
  • You will get your project assignment and specific job assignment which will be chosen by the art teacher and classroom teacher.
  • One art class day will be devoted to research and two classroom days (Language Arts) will be used for research.
  • Pictures of the artists and artwork must be bookmarked for them to be scanned and saved on a disk.

Step 3:
  • You will write a rough draft of your essays, then read each others' essays to check for spelling and other errors. Make corrections and read them again.
  • The group member who is making the PowerPoint will begin that assignment.

Step 4:
  • During art class time you will be starting the pointillism drawing. You will sketch a very light outline of the still life examples which will be set up for you.
  • You will begin adding color dots with oil pastel or crayon using what you've learned about optical color mixing and the pointillism technique.

Step 5:
  • Each group will practice giving their presentation (reading their essay) and then give their oral presentation to the class. One art class day will be for groups to present.
  • An individual job grade and a group presentation grade will be given to each person.

Step 6:
  • You will finish your individual pointillism drawings and turn them in for a third grade in this art activity.
  • The three grades you receive will be averaged together to produce your final individual grade in this art activity.
