Rockin' for Relief is a concert benefiting the hurricane relief efforts of The American Red Cross. Because the areas hit by the hurricanes in 2005 are still in tremendous need of help and support, it is important to continue to raise funds for and bring awareness about this devastating tragedy. There are still hundreds of thousands of people without permanent homes scattered throughout the country, not knowing how to proceed making a new life for themselves and their families. In the aftermath of the hurricanes, The University of Akron reacted swiftly, aiding displaced students and setting a relief fund for monetary donations on campus. But the need is still present and UA wants to be sure that fact is not forgotten by organizing and supporting this amazing event.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 29, at E.J. Thomas Hall. There are three main components to the event:
12pm-5:30pm: a festival with food and merchandise vendors, artists, nonprofits, and others;
1pm-5:30pm: a Battle of the Bands featuring local Ohio talent battling it out for a chance to open for the headliner band; and
8pm: an evening concert featuring the headliner, Blessid Union of Souls (doors open at 7pm)
