Dear Prospective Supporter:
The University of Akron intends to compete in the 2008 Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition (IGVC) in Michigan during June 6 - 9, 2008. To compete, student teams must design and construct an autonomous robot that will navigate an obstacle course as quickly as possible. Over thirty teams will be participating—each using state of the art machine vision, obstacle detection, electronics, and artificial intelligence computing. The skills learned throughout this competition are critical to the development of future engineers, scientists, and leaders and in maintaining our technological advantage in the world.
As a first-year team, we are developing a complete vehicle from scratch. That being the case, our team has many new sensors, components, and parts to purchase. We are currently seeking individual or corporate sponsors to help the UA team complete our competition vehicle.
In return for sponsorship we will:
1) Provide a Certificate of Sponsorship
2) Display your company logo on the vehicle, team T-shirts, and event booth
3) Display your company logo on our Web page
Sponsorship serves to demonstrate your support for the students and promote student activities. It is also an opportunity to become acquainted with outstanding students who are creative, energetic and inventive and could be a future asset to your company.
