The UA Land ROOver team is comprised of eight members, all seniors in the Electrical Engineering (EE) program. The purpose of participating in the IGVC was to fulfill the Senior Design Project requirements. Within the team are two Senior Design teams, named the “Eyes & Ears” and “Arms & Legs”. The “Eyes & Ears” team is responsible for most of the obstacle detection and situational awareness functions, while the “Arms & Legs” team is responsible for most of the vehicle control and operating functions. The purpose of the IGVC is basically to design and build an innovative ground vehicle that will autonomously navigate an obstacle course. The course is delineated by white lines and filled with many types of obstacles, such as construction barrels, trees, potholes, and ramps. The goal is to stay within the specified lane, avoid all obstacles, and reach the end in the shortest time. More information on the contest may be found at: www.IGVC.org
