Here in the Courtyard are members of the Society for Creative Anachronism, a living history society that researches and recreates the Middle Ages and the Renaissance (600AD-1600AD) of Western Europe and the cultures that influenced it. The Marche of Gywntarian is the Akron Ohio branch of the SCA . Gywntarian is in the SCA region known as the Middle Kingdom (OH, KY, MI, WI, MN, IN, IL and parts of Canada). SCAdians learn about life in the Middle Ages by doing what was done then: everything from fiber arts to metal work, cooking to calligraphy, dancing to tournament combat. Our meetings are on Thursday nights at the Goodyear Heights Presbyterian Church on Goodyear Boulevard, Akron. The last Friday of each month we host a Renaissance Dance Night in Kent, Ohio, at Fred Fuller Park.

Within the SCA are many sub-groups, called households that specialize in certain times, places or subjects of history. For instance... the Medieval Mongol Hordes:
Qara Ordu Moritun
The Silver Horde
The Great Dark Horde
(If you'd like your household listed here or if these links don't work . . . please email me!)
