Materials: plastic tablecloth for background boarder bulletin board letters butterflies For caterpillar’s head: Styrofoam ball, acrylic paint, pipe cleaners, eyes, Velcro to attach head to board For caterpillar’s body: construction paper, pipe cleaners, Velcro Have the students clap the rhythms in order, then rearrange the circles of the caterpillar’s body to create a new sequence of rhythms each day. You could also clap one rhythm, and then ask the class which circle you clapped. Instead of rhythm, the caterpillar could also be used to make a bulletin board to teach short melodic patterns or solfege syllables. |
