About
the Clinic:
The University of Akron's Auditory-Verbal (A-V) Clinic continues to
be one of the first and few university-based (A-V) centers providing
students with clinical experiences in applying the guiding principles
of the Auditory-Verbal Philosophy.
The Clinic is directed by two certified auditory-verbal therapists
(CERT.AVT).
The Clinic enrolls 15-20 children per semester.
Two-thirds of the children wear a cochlear implant.
In 2001, the clinic celebrated its 20th anniversary since its inception
in 1981 by professor of audiology, Dr. Carol Flexer.
Every graduate speech-language pathology and audiology student
has an opportunity to participate in the Auditory-Verbal Clinic.
The Auditory-Verbal Scholarship Fund offers assistantships to
exemplary graduate students demonstrating a commitment to
pediatrics.
15 master level graduates from The University of Akron School
of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology have chosen to
specialize in auditory-verbal professions.
