  • Search Biological and Agricultural Index or BIOSIS (Biological Abstracts) for articles about whales. We are more likely to have the journals Biological and Agricultural Index covers, either electronically or in paper format, but BIOSIS is far more comprehensive and more research-oriented.

    Sample search: Click on the link for one of the biological databases mentioned in the previous paragraph, and enter (whale or whales) and (tag$ or track$) in the "Keyword or phrase" box. The dollar sign ($) is a truncation or wildcard symbol, so that variations of these words may be searched, such as tag, tags, tagged, tagging, track, tracks, tracked, tracking, etc. We could truncate whale as well, but we would also retrieve authors named Whalen and Whaley, who have nothing to do with whales.
