Beilstein/Gmelin CrossFire Installation InstructionsNote: You will need the following information to successfully complete this installation:

Group name uni-akro
1. Download the self-extracting file bc2000xf-winset.exe from the University of Wisconsin <http://www.library.wisc.edu:4001/> or Beilstein <http://www.beilstein.com/> Web sites to a temporary directory on your hard drive. (Users in the Polymer Science building should download the software from the Beilstein Web site.) By launching this file, the install program will be unpacked to a folder called BC2000XF-SET.
2. Run the setup.exe file located in the BC2000XF-SET folder.
3. If you have previous versions of Commander installed, the installer will remove them before continuing.
4. After the uninstall of previous versions is complete, the installer will continue. You can choose the defaults for file locations etc.
5. For upgrade installations, the installer has all the information it needs. For new installations, you will be asked for the following:
Host address: Beilstein.library.wisc.edu
Station ID: Enter anything you like. I usually suggest entering your name.
License Group Name: uni-akro
6. The installer now has all the information it needs. You may finish the installation.
7. The last item to complete is putting in the user id and password for The University of Akron.
To do this you will need to launch the Beilstein Commander software (double click on the Beilstein Commander
icon on your desktop) and then initiate a connection (click on the red cross arrows
icon). You will get a login dialog box. Enter your campus

Password k25ft528
- all in lower case.
If you don't want to be prompted for the user id and password each time you use Commander, you can select the box to remember the user id and password.
