History and philosophy of fire protection; introduction to agencies involved; current legislative developments; discussion of current related problems, expanding future of fire protection and career orientation.
Fire Suppression and Emergency
Response Methods: 2230(202) Efficient and effective utilization of human resources, equipment and apparatus. Emphasis on preplanning, fire ground organization, problem solving related to fire ground decision making, tactics and strategy. Fire Hazard Recognition: 2230(204)
Inspection techniques and procedures; setting up a fire prevention bureau. Recognition and correction of fire hazards. Public relations and code enforcement. Fire Detection and Suppression Systems II: 2230(206)
Prerequisite: 205. Design, installation and operation of automatic fire suppression systems. Includes sprinklers, foam, carbon dioxide, dry chemical, halogenated agent systems.
Fire Codes and Standards: 2230(254)
Prerequisite: 104. Study of legal rights and duties, liabilities and responsibilities of fire department organizations. Fire Protection for Business and Industry: 2230(257)
Industrial fire protection problems including specialized hazards, automatic extinguishing systems, codes and standards, fire safety planning, fire brigade organizations and OSHA inspections. Fire Service Administration: 2230(280)
Prerequisites: 100. Fire officer professional qualifications, federal, state, regulations governing department operations-OSHA, EPA: emergency and non- emergency procedures-ICS,IMS, Emergency Operations Center also presented. |
