  Experience:   1999 - Present: Assistant Professor of Fire Protection Technology University of Akron, Akron, Ohio. Duties include teaching the following courses: Introduction to Fire Protection, Fire Hazard Recognition, Suppressions Systems II, Emergency Response Methods, Fire Codes and Standards, Fire Protection for Business and Industry, Fire Service Administration. Also serve as advisor to students.

 

1994 - 1998: Adjunct Assistant Professor in Environmental Safety Management Technology , Kent State University, Tuscarawas Campus . Developed and taught course on Fire Prevention and Control. Topics covered included: Hazardous Materials, Protective Clothing, breathing apparatus, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Industrial fire brigades and loss prevention inspections also covered.

 

1982 - 1996: Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician City of Canton, Ohio Responding to emergency needs of citizens and using acquired skills to aid them. Trained with city and county Hazardous Materials Team.

 

          1993 - 1994: Coordinator of Fire Safety/Security Staff College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio Responsibilities included: Inspection of fire safety equipment and training of employees to meet OSHA and NFPA standards. Also involved with increasing students' awareness of crime safety on campus.

 

1990 - 1992: Instructor University of Akron, Akron, Ohio Public Safety Technology Department. Duties: Taught public safety courses to Criminal Justice and Fire Protection Technology Students. Introduction to Fire Protection, Fire Ground Tactics, and Administration Supervision for Public Services. Also served as student advisor.

 

1991 - 1993: Adjunct Faculty Ohio Fire Academy, Reynoldsburg, Ohio Taught operations and awareness level hazardous materials courses for State Outreach Program. Provided training for Akron Fire Department's recruitment classes.

 

 

  Education: University of Akron, Spring 1991 Master of Public Administration - Urban Studies. Emphasis on Public Safety Management.
